Just got it, plugged it in and charged it. no batteries, built in rechargable battery. took 4 hours to charge. battery life claims to be an hour in the instructions. Very light and pretty bright. upclose interviews it maybe too bright, i can't look into it directly within 4 feet. One thing i didnt know is that you can buy multiple units and connect them as they have multiple hot-shoe type slots on three sides. remember no dimmer so the light is what it is, some type of diffuser would help. if there was something that had a dimmer and used AA's at twice the price i would have bought it but to get that you are at five times the price so i cant complain.

The product worked for it's first and initial charge. The indicator LED's fully lit up and worked just as described. I put it on my camera and all worked well, and was very effective at lighting like it states. But I later went back to charge it and the red indicator light did not come on. But I thought well maybe it is charging but the light is just not coming on, so I let it charge over night and nothing happened. Then I thought well maybe it has to be fully drained to charge, so I did just that. And still no indicator light or light coming from the LED's themselves. Nothing has come loose or broken or anything. It has been in a protective case for it's entire stay. It's been over a month, so I know I can't return it. But I think it's ridiculous that this product has this inconsistency. I wonder if other reviewers reviewed too soon and are now experiencing this same problem. This is the first time I've experienced this with any product and am very disappointed. Everyone always says save your money and buy a better one, but you don't care. But when it happens to you, you really notice its severity. I think I'm entitled to an exchange for this product, or they will lose future business from myself and friends.

Pros: 1. Very lightweight & compact 2. Very bright Cons: 1. Battery take awhile to charge (about 3 hours for one hour plus of light) 2. Cannot use the light with the mains - have to wait to charge 3. Inbuilt Lithium Ion cell - will not accept external battery solution I really love this product - it is unbelievably bright and cool to the touch, at most it gets warm. The light quality is not the bluish LED cast, but a warmer, richer tone. I opened it up, and it is a simple and high quality build. At first I had problems charging it - it quit on me after like 5 mins - started to flicker and died. Then I discovered the power brick was for 110 volts - so recharged it, and everything was fine. Note that it starts flickering before the battery quits. Highly recommended - if you are a DIY sort of guy - open it up, and you will see it is very easy to modify to circumvent the CONS....
