The idea of a small, easy to set up and use, easy to download video camera was so appealing for use in my Special Ed. classroom. The failure to download images was so disappointing. After being plugged into the usb port, the screen went fuzzy and never again responded, in spite of numerous manipulations, including removing and replacing batteries. I don't know if I will get a refund on return, but it is of no use to me. What a disappointment to lose images of student performances that I can never duplicate.

If you're just looking for something to catch special moments with the kids (or in our case the grandkids) or you want to amuse each other at parties then this is a great little video camera for the price! And if you don't especially need much zooming capability, then this will work for you! If you're wanting something more high end or you have higher aspirations than you-tube as your viewing audience then you may want to pass and get something more expensive! I was actually pleasantly surprised with the quality and with how well the videos seemed to damp out background noise. This is literally point and shoot and so at times the biggest problem is a steady hand. I'm considering the tripod accessory at this point just in case we want a steadier video. All things considered I'm very pleased to have purchased it as a gift for my wife! It's one more weapon in her arsenal for the ongoing task of archiving hours of footage of our three year old grandson to go along with the tens of thousands of pictures that have been taken since his birth. It's a tough job, but some grandma's gotta do it!

This is a very good deal for the $50 price that I paid for it. Pros: 1) Surprisingly good on batteries. I expected it to eat through batteries but a set of alkaline batteries lasted for a couple of hours. 2) Small and light weight. My last video recorder was a vhs-c unit that got heavy after awhile. This unit fits easily into a pocket. It also comes with a wrist strap. 3) Fairly simple to use. Cons: 1) Video Quality is fair. Not great. 2) Buttons are slow to respond. Sometimes I wonder if I pushed the button hard enough and then it will finally respond. 3) Somewhat awkward holding position. This is really a nit. 4) Memory not removable. This can be a real shortfall if you want to record an afternoon full of activity without bringing your laptop along. Notes: 1) I haven't had any of the download problems that others have talked about. I must have a unit with updated firmware. 2) The flip out USB connector is nice but I would be careful with stress. I don't think that the connector will hold the unit up. I use a USB extension cable with my desktop computer.
