I had two sb800s, one blewup so i was looking for a backup flash incase I needed one. I love that it works with Nikon's wireless creative light system but wish I would have known a couple things about the flash before ordering it. If using it off camera it will work either through CLS or as a slave but doesnt have a connection jack for connecting to a cable, or any other wireless remotes, like a pocket wizard, so if you want to use it in that type system you would have to buy a flashmount for it. Im really liking the fact that the new Pocket Wizards are going to work with the TTL settings on Nikon flashes so i was a little disappointed. Also, you can not hook up any external battery packs to it as well so you are limited to the four AA batteries. Other then that its a great flash. TTL works great! its smaller and weighs less than the sb800. for a little over $200.00 its a great flash! Bought it thru BestBuy and I did get the extended warranty as Ive had two flashes blow up in 5 years.

Pros: Reliable, fast cycle time, it just works! Cons: Pricey, camera top mount is cumbersome to carry around (handle mount type is more balance) I owned D70, D50 and recently bought D90. I need a good flash for indoor portrait pictures. I owned a couple of old style (auto) flashes including a handle mount one. I'd like to get a TTL version. I bought a cheap CULLMANN TTL flash (D4500N) since it has all the features that SB800 has. However, it didn't work when I use it for bounce flash (i.e. turn the head upward) which is very important for indoor portrait photo (e.g. family/group pictures, wedding). I may try other cheaper replacement (like vivitar, sunpak) if I didn't get burnt by that experience. I decided to get a real NIKON flash which I used before without any problem. Got the flash and shoot about a hundred plus pictures so far. Never disappointed on the result. Here is some tips to make the best out of that flash for portrait/group pictures: . Always use bounce flash if possible . Use ISO400 for bounced flash otherwise it may not be powerful enough for a large room . Get a flash diffuser as well (I got a really cheap one from ebay) otherwise you may see uneven lighting for bounce flash when the subject is too close (e.g. less than 5 ft). Functionally, it's a 5 stars product. I took out one star because of the price. The bottom line is, SB600 is a great deal when compared to SB800/900 which are too much to pay and too little to gain compare with SB600.

Why would anyone buy used on E-Bay with no warranty when you can get new at Amazon- and without the bidding hassle and getting NIB for about the same money? Great service and peace of mind.
