There is no doubt this is Nikons flagship camera. Its got a much longer battery life and because of the upgraded technoogy its pictures are much crispier than the d300's. I create ads for Jewelers and replaced my D300 with it. I use a leaf back and to capture the fine details but this camera can do it itself. I buy my gear at http://www.fotoconnection.com/p93654-nikon-d90-digital-slr-camera-af-s-dx.html as they seem to always have what I need and they deliver rather quickly. I alwsy recieve a tracking # a day after order. With no doubt if you are considering purchasing this camera, whether you are an amateur or a pro. i definately recommend it. The d300 is similar and I loved it but I dont think they will be making anything much better than the d90 anytime soon. Nature photographers should consider getting a qualilty camera backpack with straps and compartments as you dont want to bump this baby around. James at Fotoconnection can certainly help you pick a good one as he did me. It sometimes is tough finding an honest NY camera dealer. I have been shooting out of my studio for 25 years and remember using a blackroom (ohh how we evolved) trust that you will certainly be happy with this here purchase.
