This lens prevents me from getting a consumer zoom because they leave so much to be desired in image quality. Love this beauty. I hate the flash and taking indoor pictures is a pleasure with this really fast lens.

Just wanted to share with everybody how much I love this lens. I have shot Nikons for years and got lazy and went the zoom lens only route. Shooting with this lens has gotten me back to what I love about photography. The focus is extremely sharp and the shallow depth of field is absolutely gorgeous. This puts me back in control of the elements needed to make a really good photograph. I received this lens on a Tuesday and used it to shoot a wedding on Saturday. This lens put me back to where I needed to be with my wedding photos. It is an excellant portrait lens and does a really good job in low light situations. I would highly recommend this lens.

I have a D40 and got this lens...unfortunately the lack of autofocus is a real handicap...there were so many shots i just could not get cause manual focus was so finicky. The reason i give it 5 stars is cause it is truly a great lens producing exceptionally sharp photos...i know this from the 2 out of 85 shots that came out in focus for me...however autofocus is a must! Returned it to Amazon within 30 days and basically just cost me 5 dollars for shipping...If you have the D40 go out and get the new 35mm f/1.8G...it does autofocus and is going for just under $200....with a bit of a delay on shipping due to lack of supply.
